OKO-2 Ground Penetrating Radar

Ground Penetrating Radar is a state-of-the-art device designed for a wide scope of applications. Its transportability, comparably small size, and capability of conducting a non-destructive high resolution scanning of the nearsurface section make it stand out from a range of geophysical devices.

Applications

GPRs are used for geotechnical, geoecological, hydrological, hydrogeological, archeological and exploratory applications such as:

  • Search for buried small objects;
  • Examination of buildings and structures;
  • Exploration of facilities;
  • Mapping geological structures;
  • Defining thickness of ice floe;
  • Basin exploration and sediments mapping;
  • Detecting thickness of temporary freezing/defrostation and mapping perpetually frozen soils and taliks;
  • Special applications.

OKO-2® GPRs have marked a clear leadership among Russian-made GPRs and by many parameters surpass similar devices. The OKO-2® GPR set includes: control unit, processing unit or notebook computer and an antenna unit (to be chosen depending on desired application). All antenna units are easily detachable and interchangeable. Using lower frequency antenna assembly one can increase the scanning depth; however if high resolution scanning of the near-surface section is required one is to use high frequency antenna units. Combination of antenna units of various frequencies yields best results. OKO-2® makes use of both of shielded and non- shielded antennas.

** Available in "construction", "universal" (U) and "horn" (R) modifications. AB-1700 and AB-1200 operate with built-in motion pick-ups; AB-1700U and AB-1200U are designed with dismountable skid. Which makes these models compatible with both built-in and external motion pick-ups.

GeoScan32 software package is used with OKO-2® GPRs. GeoScan32 is also used for processing and visualization of the acquired data.
